Nicolo Barella feels that Inter Milan beating Barcelona 4-3 “will go down in the history of the Champions League.”
The 28-year-old looked back on the semifinal second leg thriller speaking to The Athletic, via FCInterNews. He also admitted that he felt particularly at fault for Barcelona’s third goal.
The Nerazzurri reached this point by eliminating Barcelona in the semifinals.
It was the most daramatic of semifinal ties. The first leg ended in a 3-3 draw, while the second leg had the same scoreline after ninety minutes.
Barcelona had looked to have completed a dramatic comeback from 2-0 on the night. But a late Francesco Acerbi equalizer set up extra time.
Then, it was Davide Frattesi who scored the goal that sent Inter into the final.
That capped off what was undoubtedly one of the most dramatic and thrilling Champions League tie in recent memory.
Meanwhile, PSG reached the final by beating Arsenal. They overcame the Premier League side by a 3-1 scoreline on aggregate.

Nicolo Barella was in the Inter lineup for that 4-3 thriller.
In truth, it was not the best of performances from the former Cagliari midfielder. This included some sloppy passes, such as when he cheaply gave the ball away in the buildup to Raphinha’s goal for Barcelona, the Blaugranas’ third to temporarily complete the comeback.
Barella recalled that “it was a tough blow for me more than anything.”
“Thinking back to it, I was the one who lost the ball,” the Italian international said.
Barella added that “Emotionally, it was difficult for me.”
“But thanks to Ace, Fratte, and the rest of the team, we did something memorable.”
Barella declared that “that match will go down in Champions League history.”
