While it has been a quiet start to the transfer window for Manchester City it does appear that the champions may be preparing to make their first move of the summer. Multiple reports suggest that City are preparing to move for Spanish international Dani Olmo. It appears that City are set to begin improving their squad for the 24/25 season.
Wayne Veysey has reported for footballinsider247.com that Manchester City have asked RB Leipzig for information on Dani Olmo. Veysey further reports that City have monitored the Spanish international for the past two years. Furthermore, Veysey also reports that City are now intensifying their pursuit of Olmo. Lastly, Veysey adds that RB Leipzig is demanding £50.6 million to part ways with Olmo this summer.
Veysey’s report follows on from Ferran Martinez’s report for Mundo Deportivo that City had accelerated with their move for the RB Leipzig playmaker. Martínez further reported that the champions were hoping to have a deal for Dani Olmo completed by the end of next week.
With multiple reports indicating that Manchester City are planning a move for Dani Olmo, it is beginning to feel inevitable that the champions will go after their man. As Veysey reports the champions have been monitoring the Spanish international for some time now. The RB Leipzig midfielder would add another attacking option to Pep Guardiola’s squad. While that wouldn’t appear to be a major priority for the world champions City does appear in need of refreshing their squad. Key players such as Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva are getting on in age. A player like Olmo could come in and take some of the burden off of De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva.
There is also the possibility that Manchester City lose a key player or two this summer. If that were to be the case then a move for Dani Olmo makes sense from a City point of view. As mentioned previously there are question marks over the durability of the Spanish international. But there is no doubting his quality when he is fit. Olmo does look readymade to make an impact for the world champions. Given that he is 26 years of age Olmo does look primed to move to a club of Manchester City’s stature this summer.
It is beginning to feel that a Manchester City move for Dani Olmo is inevitable. Whether or not the champions do move for the Spanish international is now a story to watch for over the next week.
