But based on who City have been linked with over the past week may provide a clue on how City’s midfield rebuild may unfold.

A report from Jack Gaughan for the Daily Mail indicates that City are the front-runners to sign Morgan Gibbs-White. Furthermore, Gaughan reports that Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz is Manchester City’s dream transfer target. Sacha Tavolieri has reported for SkySports that AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders is a player that Manchester City want to sign this summer. He is viewed as a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan as per Tavolieri’s report.

What’s becoming apparent is that Manchester City are looking to sign several midfielders this summer. Whether or not that is two or three or more remains to be seen. But what is becoming clear is that City are moving to sign Florian Wirtz, for example, and other players this summer to bolster their midfield.
