The former player and interim manager could be stepping into the spotlight once again.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has witnessed a series of struggles this season. With the team languishing in 15th place in the Premier League, pressure has been mounting on the shoulders of the current manager.

Tottenham's recent form is far from encouraging, leaving fans questioning how much longer the current regime can continue.

The rumour mill is already in full swing regarding the potential departure of Ange Postecoglou.

After a string of poor performances, including a shocking 2-1 loss to Leicester in January, the Australian manager’s future is uncertain.

However, despite Tottenham's struggles, it seems chairman Daniel Levy is willing to give Postecoglou a chance to turn things around.

According to ESPN, the manager has not been dismissed yet, and the club is hopeful he can salvage his job.

Should Postecoglou fail to meet expectations, however, Ryan Mason is already considered one of the top contenders to take over.

The 33-year-old currently serves as an assistant coach to Postecoglou, but his managerial experience in recent years could put him in the frame for a permanent role.

In fact, Mason has been named the third favourite by bookmakers to succeed Postecoglou, with odds of 9/1.

The road Behind Ryan Mason

Mason's time as interim manager for Tottenham is worth noting. In 2021 and 2023, he was called upon to take charge following the exits of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

One of the more challenging moments came in 2021, when he was thrust into the Carabao Cup final, where Tottenham fell short against Manchester City.

This season, however, Mason could potentially find himself managing Tottenham in another final. Spurs are currently 1-0 up against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, with the second leg set for 6 February.

A win in that fixture could see them face either Arsenal or Newcastle at Wembley.

With the prospect of silverware on the horizon, Postecoglou may still be in the running for a job if Tottenham continues to perform well in this competition.

Tottenham's future is far from certain, and while Postecoglou fights to prove himself, Ryan Mason's name remains firmly in the frame as the club looks to solidify their next move.
