According to journalist Dominik Schneider, the Serie A club are keen on signing the Kosovo international this summer upon their return to Italy's top flight.

The Tractor Boys are preparing for life back in the Championship after Kieran McKenna’s side finished 19th in the Premier League last season.

Muric joined Ipswich last summer, and featured 18 times in the league, conceding 33 goals and keeping just one clean sheet - he was out of favour though in the second half of the season as West Brom's Alex Palmer was signed and became first-choice.

Sassuolo have reportedly made an offer to Ipswich in a bid to sign Muric this summer.

However, it’s understood that no agreement has yet been reached between the two clubs, with negotiations ongoing.

It has been claimed that the 26-year-old is open to a move away from Portman Road, having fallen down the pecking order in the last few months.

Sassuolo aren't the only club in the running though - it is understood that AS Monaco are also keen on the player, but Sassuolo are the only club to have made an official bid.

Muric has a contract until the summer of 2028, meaning Ipswich are not in a position where they need to sell if they don't want too.

However, his last appearance in the side came in February, which could open the door for his exit from Portman Road.

Ipswich Town’s summer business so far

Ipswich have so far made just one new signing this summer as they get ready for their Championship return.

David Button arrived as a free agent following his departure from Reading, providing extra cover at goalkeeper.

His arrival could also signal the end of Muric’s time with the Suffolk outfit, with Alex Palmer ending last season as first-choice between the sticks - Christian Walton is also on the books, meaning Town are oversubscribed in that area of the pitch.

Aro Muric sale would make lots of sense for Ipswich Town

It remains unknown what kind of figure was offered to Ipswich for Muric, but the club should be considering a sale this summer.

The goalkeeper made a string of errors last season, and was eventually dropped from the first-team in favour of the newly arrived Palmer.

If a reasonable offer comes in, then it makes sense for all parties to accept and potentially generate some extra funds that can be used to improve the rest of the squad.

With Button also already in, Ipswich now have enough goalkeepers that it shouldn’t be much of an issue to let go of Muric, even if he still has three years left on his contract.
