Simone Inzaghi wants to keep that Inter ‘momentum’ going against Roma, even after the break for international duty, and gives a Kristjan Asllani update.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

The Nerazzurri have been stuttering in Serie A so far this season, because even after the draw at Monza and defeat to Milan in the Derby della Madonnina, they struggled hard to get 3-2 victories over Udinese and Torino.

“We must not let the break for international duty influence us,” Inzaghi told the official Inter website.

“We are coming off three consecutive victories and must continue that momentum. We worked well and know this is a very tough game.”

Roma surprised many by sacking Daniele De Rossi a few weeks into the campaign and bringing in former Torino boss Ivan Juric.

“We faced Juric many times over the years and he is bringing his philosophy to Roma. We must be ready to both attack and defend.”

There are injury problems to deal with, as Piotr Zielinski returned from international duty with Poland suffering from a muscular issue, while Kristjan Asllani picked up a knock in training and is not making the trip either.

As a result, Inzaghi has added 19-year-old youth team sensation Thomas Berenbruch to the travelling party after his brace in the UEFA Youth League victory over Manchester City.

“Asllani had a slight sprain to his knee yesterday and is out, but we are bringing along a promising youth team player like Berenbruch, so it’s not a problem,” continued the coach.

As Lautaro Martinez was in South America for Argentina, Marcus Thuram is expected to start with Mehdi Taremi upfront.

“Thuram was already working well last season and is just continuing that process. His style hasn’t changed, we just made a few tweaks.

“We know that there are seven games in the next 20 days, so we must all be focused and ready. Right now, my only focus is on being ready for the Roma match.”
