This coming week, Inter take on Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie.

The Nerazzurri go into Wednesday’s match with a 2-1 lead from the first leg.

That means that there is only the slenderest of advantages for the Nerazzurri to protect.

However, the first leg win in Munich was about more than just the result for Inter.

The performance also gave the team a great deal to believe in.

And the fact that Inter have secured three huge points in the Serie A title race against Cagliari this evening will only further heighten their sense of self-belief.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi said that Inter “arrive full of confidence” ahead of their clash with Bayern this week.

“We know that we’re playing against a very strong team. One of the three or four best in the world.”

“We’ll have to repeat the first leg,” Inzaghi continued.

“We can’t just manage the game. We have to play a match with a lot of running, aggression, and organization.”

Meanwhile, Inzaghi gave his thoughts on Marko Arnautovic’s assist for Lautaro Martinez against Cagliari. “He was great,” he said of the veteran striker. “He played a great match.”

“The last piece was still needed from Lautaro. But most of it was already done with Arna’s assist.”

“It was beautiful to see them link up like that,” the Nerazzurri coach said.

“We cared about this match a lot. And we knew it wouldn’t be easy.”

Simone Inzaghi admitted that “we switched off on the goal for 2-1.”

“But the team stayed in it, and focused,” the coach went on. “And then we managed to make it 3-1 to keep on track.”

“We tried. But it makes us proud.”

Inzaghi noted that “Last season we played 49 matches.”

“This season we’re already at the 48th, on April 12th.”

“It’s an intense season, we have to adapt, and we’re doing so,” declared the Inter coach. “With the sacrifice from everyone.”
