Inter are getting close to agreeing a contract extension with defender Stefan de Vrij past the end of the current season.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are in talks with the 31-year-old’s agent for a new two-year deal with the option of a further season, at the same wages the player currently earns.

Inter do not want uncertainty around de Vrij’s future to go on much longer, as the club begin to build their strategy for the summer transfer window and next season.

Talks have been ongoing over the past few weeks with the Dutchman’s agent Federico Pastorello as the club’s offer has been on the table for some time.

The former Lazio and Feyenoord player’s willingness to stay and extend his contract has always been clear.

According to Tuttosport, the talks with de Vrij’s agent Pastorello are now focused around a two-year extension with the option of a further season, and they are heading in the direction of an agreement.
