Inter Milan have rebuffed an offer from Napoli for teenage striker Francesco Pio Esposito in no uncertain terms.
This according to today’s print edition of Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino, via FCInterNews. They report that Napoli could change their strategy to trying to convince Esposito himself on a move.
Napoli have made young Inter striker Pio Esposito a major transfer priority.
The 19-year-old is currently on loan with Spezia. This is his second consecutive season on loan with the Ligurian club.
And it has proven to be a real breakout campaign for Pio Esposito.
The Inter-owned striker has scored eight goals so far this season. He has been at the heart of Spezia’s push for promotion to Serie A.
One thing that looks certain is that Esposito will play in Serie A in the not-too-distant future.
Moreover, Inter reportedly see the teenage striker as part of their first-team plans.
Esposito will not likely be in the Nerazzurri senior squad for next season. But it shouldn’t be too long before he’s given his chance.
However, Napoli reportedly want to snatch Esposito away from Inter.
Partenopei President Aurelio De Laurentiis has made the Italy Under-21 international a priority target.
However, Napoli’s latest efforts to convince Inter to sell Pio Esposito have been fruitless. The Nerazzurri made clear that they do not consider the 19-year-old to be on the market.
That does not mean that the Campanians have given up, however.
Il Mattino report that, having failed to convince Inter on a move, Napoli will try to persuade Esposito himself that they would be the right move for him.
