Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta insists Simone Inzaghi amidst recent speculations regarding the coach’s future.
The manager’s contract with the Nerazzurri will expire at the end of the season. However, the management has prepared him a new deal that rewards his exploits from last season with a pay rise.
But as reported earlier, the two parties have yet to reach a definitive agreement, though they could resolve the matter in tomorrow morning’s meeting.
Ahead of what could be a crucial summit, Marotta remains confident about his coach’s future.
The 67-year-old reveals that the club intends to keep Inzaghi at Appiano Gentile for years to come. He also insists that the manager is happy to linger at the club.
“With Inzaghi, we began a cycle a few years ago and we’re not even halfway there,” said the Nerazzurri president as reported by ANSA via FcInterNews.
“We want to continue with him and he deserves it. He’s happy with Inter and we’re happy with him.”
Inzaghi has been Inter’s head coach since making the switch from Lazio in the summer of 2021. He arrived as a replacement for Antonio Conte.
Marotta made these statements during a ceremony that saw him receive the Golden Star Award for sporting merit.
The former Sampdoria and Juventus general director also confirmed Inter’s unquenchable desire for trophies.
“We don’t just want to win. In our DNA, there is the obligation to compete to win. This is something that we can learn from our history.
“We will always respect our opponents, but we are starting a winning cycle.”
Marotta first joined the club in 2018 after parting ways with Juventus. He has recently been appointed as new Inter president following Oaktree Capital’s takeover in May.
