Inter Milan are reportedly plotting to sign Jonathan David on a free transfer in 2025 when his contract with OGC Lille expires.

The 24-year-old started his career at Ottawa before making the move to Europe through the gates of KAA Gent in January 2018.

Two years later, the Canadian signed for Lille, slowly but surely establishing himself as one of the best strikers in Ligue 1.

Nevertheless, the Brooklyn native doesn’t intend to dwell in France for too long. He has been rejecting Lille’s contract renewal offers while eying bigger things for the future.

Therefore, David will likely remain at the French club until the end of the season. He will then be free to sign with a new club.

And according to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri have taken note of the situation.

Inter president Bepp Marotta is notorious for his ability to poach some of the finest players on the free agents’ market.

His latest two acquisitions are Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski. The list also includes the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu and Marcus Thuram.

Inter Milan Already Plotting To Sign Jonathan David On Free Transfer

So as the Turin-based newspaper explains, the Nerazzurri are already considering snapping up David next summer.

The Canada international would arrive as a replacement for Marko Arnautovic.

The Austrian has recently fallen down in Simone Inzaghi’s pecking order. However, he seems intent on fulfilling his deal which also expires at the end of the season.

David would also find himself an ally at Appiano Gentile in the shape of his compatriot and national teammate Tajon Buchanan.

The winger joined the Nerazzurri in January but is currently recovering from an injury he sustained during the Copa America.

The Lille bomber is also vastly experienced on the international level considering his young age. He scored 28 goals in 54 caps for Canada’s senior national team.
