Inter Milan and Napoli are unable to agree on kickoff dates for their final Serie A matches and a potential playoff for the title.
This according to Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInter1908. They report that a compromise could be necessary in scheduling the final matches in the run-in of the season.
A couple of seasons ago, the league changed the rules for the Serie A title.
In the event that two or more teams finish level on points at the top of the league table, the tie-breaker would not be the head-to-head record of the teams, or goal difference.
Rather, in that scenario it would go down to a one-off match between the two teams. Essentially a playoff for the Scudetto.
And with just a single point separating Napoli and Inter Milan at the top as things stand with two matches to go, there is certainly a real possibility of that happening.

If Inter lose to Lazio this weekend, and Napoli beat Parma, then the Partenopei will secure the title with a game to spare.
Otherwise, it will go down to the final day of the season.
Therefore, the question of when to pencil in a potential playoff between Inter and Napoli has created a real logistical headache.
Inter will want it out of the way sooner rather than later, undoubtedly.
The Nerazzurri have the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on the 31st to think about. They hardly want the distraction of a one-off match against Napoli just day before that match.
Reports indicate that the league could bump forward Inter and Napoli’s final matches. They could face Como and Cagliari respectively next Thursday.
That would leave open the possibility of a playoff on Sunday, the 25th, almost a week before the Champions League final.
This would certainly be the option that Inter Milan would prefer.
That would be the most convenient way for the Nerazzurri to ensure that they do not have to play just a few days before the Champions League final.
However, Napoli are not keen on the idea.
La Repubblica report that the Partenopei would not want their title celebrations to be on a Thursday.
Therefore, the newspaper reports, the two clubs could agree upon a compromise.
This could mean that the playoff is played at a neutral venue, the Stadio Olimpico, rather than the San Siro. However, Inter would get their way as far as the final Serie A matches being bumped forward.
