Inter Milan make new contact with rising Serie A defender Koni De Winter | OneFootball

Inter Milan have resumed talks for the potential signing of Genoa defender Koni De Winter, according to Sky Sport Italia.

While their focus is on Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, Inter are also keeping an eye on defensive reinforcements.

The Nerazzurri have lined up De Winter as a potential centre-back target due to the uncertain futures of Yann Aurel Bisseck and Benjamin Pavard.

Bisseck is at the top of Crystal Palace’s wishlist, and they have submitted an offer worth more than €30 million to the Italian giants. However, the German defender has no interest in leaving San Siro and wants to continue his progress with Inter.

Stefan De Vrij and Francesco Acerbi are nearing their twilight, so there are doubts whether they can maintain the same intensity and physical levels this season.

Investing in a young central defender will provide Cristian Chivu with multiple options in the backline and help Inter build a solid foundation for the future.

De Winter has shown significant progress in Serie A over the last two seasons, being a standout in a mid-table side like Genoa.
