Davide Frattesi has made clear that Inter Milan “want to go far” in every competition they’re playing in this season.
The 25-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, after his team’s Coppa Italia victory over Udinese yesterday.
Inter are now right in the thick of an extremely busy period in their season.
The Nerazzurri have been playing in Serie A and the Coppa Italia for months now.
And balancing those two competitions has been hard enough as it is.
However, now there are the domestic cups.
Yesterday, Inter kicked off their Coppa Italia campaign. They cruised past Udinese in the round of sixteen to set up a quarterfinal clash with Lazio.
Meanwhile, next month Inter will play in the Supercoppa Italiana.
None of this means that the Serie A and Champions League schedule is slowing down.
Then, at the end of the campaign, Inter will play in the expanded Club World Cup.
Every competition is a huge test of not just Inter’s quality, but also their energy and endurance.
But at the same time, there is a chance to win a trophy in each case.
In every one of the last four seasons, Inter have gotten their hands on silverware.
There has been the Serie A title twice, the Coppa Italia twice, and the Supercoppa Italiana on three occasions.
Meanwhile, Inter have finished as runners-up in both the Europa League and Champions League.
And midfielder Frattesi made clear that fighting for trophies on all fronts “is our goal, as it is every season.”
“We have to always try to win. That’s what you have to do when you’re Inter.”
“We always have to try and go all the way,” Frattesi insisted.
And of Inter’s squad depth, Frattesi said “It certainly allows everyone to take a breather sometimes.”
“That’s a great thing for the team,” the former Sassuolo midfielder added. “Today we did well to be ready.”
And of the title race in Serie A, Frattesi said with a laugh that “If it were up to us, the best title race would be if we were already fifteen points ahead.”
“But I agree,” he said of the title race being a positive.
“This way, we never get burned out. The pace is always high and the focus has to be higher.”
“We didn’t get off to the best of starts,” Frattesi said of Inter’s Serie A campaign. “But now we’re 100% switched-on, and we have to get ahead of the teams currently in front of us.”
