Inter Milan are hell-bent on getting revenge for their Supercoppa Italiana humiliation in Sunday’s Serie A derby clash with AC Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
One of the biggest disappointments of Inter’s season so far came in the Supercoppa Italiana.
The Nerazzurri faced city rivals AC Milan in the final of that competition in Riyadh.
Having dispatched Atalanta with ease in the semifinal – and having won the last three editions of the Supercoppa – Inter Milan went into that final with plenty of confidence.
Then, the Nerazzurri found themselves 2-0 up at the start of the second half.
However, the derby is always a fixture unlike any others. And so it proved in the Supercoppa final earlier this month.
Milan turned it around to win the match 3-2. It confirmed the derby as one of the most unpredictable and exciting matches in Italian, if not all of European, football.
Inter had already lost to their city rivals in the league earlier in the season.
Milan’s well-deserved 2-1 win in September remains the only defeat that the Nerazzurri have suffered in Serie A this campaign so far.

The Rossoneri have won two on the bounce to wrestle control of the derby after Inter Milan went on a six-match winning run in the fixture.
Moreover, those Milan wins came under two different coaches.
As a whole, the Rossoneri’s season has been deeply erratic. In contrast to Inter, they’ve had many ups and downs, and on the form table have certainly never been favourites in the derby.
But all of that, along with the fact of relinquishing a 2-0 lead, made the Supercoppa final defeat all the more humiliating for Inter.
The Nerazzurri may well deny that it’s a result that stings unlike any other.
But it remains some of Inter’s most outstanding unfinished business for the campaign.
For the Nerazzurri, this Sunday the second league meeting with Milan will be a highly-charged affair. They are desperate for revenge so that they can alter the balance to their city rivalry.
