There is certainly little doubt that Inter Milan will make one or two attacking signings this summer.

Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa are out of contract at the end of June. And then, Mehdi Taremi could very well leave after just one season at the club.

Therefore, Inter will certainly need to bolster their forward line.

And by all accounts, the Nerazzurri’s priority is to sign a younger striker. They want a signing for the future as well as the present, having relied on veteran players for some time.

According to the Gazzetta, though, Inter will not just be aiming to sign a backup striker or squad player in attack.

The newspaper anticipate that the Nerazzurri want to sign a starting-quality forward. A player who can really provide competition to Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

There have been a number of names linked in recent weeks.

Reportedly, Inter see Bologna’s Santiago Castro as a major target. They are also eyeing up the likes of Nikola Krstovic and Lorenzo Lucca from within Serie A.

Then, there is also reportedly still a possibility of Inter signing Jonathan David on a free transfer.

The Canadian international would not command a transfer fee. He would, however, require a significant outlay on wages and commissions.

But as the Gazzetta note, Inter are not working on a tight budget like in past transfer windows.

The Nerazzurri have plenty of cash in their coffers from the Champions League. Therefore, they are ready to invest in a striker who will be more than just an option in the depth chart.
