Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that forward Joaquin Correa gave a “great sign” with his performance against Udinese.
The Nerazzurri coach reacted to the 3-2 Serie A victory in a press conference after the match, as reported by FCInterNews. He signalled out the former Lazio forward for praise.
For the second time this season, 30-year-old Argentine international Correa got the chance to play as a substitute for Inter.
Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi decided to throw the former Lazio and Sevilla man on for the closing stages of the match.
Correa replaced Inter captain Lautaro Martinez as the team were looking to see out their advantage.
The Argentine did not manage to score or assist a goal in his time on the pitch.
However, Correa did give his team an outlet to get the ball up the pitch.
The 30-year-old led a couple of counterattacks with the ball at his feet.
Correa is a player who most expected to leave Inter during the summer transfer window. However, no offers arrived that convinced the player and the Nerazzurri.
Therefore, Correa is still an Inter player. He is under contract until the end of next June.
And as long as Correa remains a Nerazzurri player, he could still have his contribution to make.
After the match, Inter coach Inzaghisai that “As a coach, seeing a player come on in the 82nd minute that Correa did is a great sign.”
“But all the substitutes who came on did well,” he added.
Inzaghi said that “Our fans were brilliant today.”
“I never go onto the pitch during the warmup. But I could hear our fans from the dressing room.”
“They were right there behind us from start to finish,” Inzaghi said of the Nerazzurri supporters in the crows. “A team victory.”
And Inzaghi also said “The team performed well.”
“But I had no doubts about that.”
“The team have looked charged up to me for the last four days,” the Inter coach said. “They’ve given everything in training since Tuesday.”
“We were up against a team who are in form, unbeaten at home, ten points so far. But we always had the match in hand.”
