Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is not worried about the prospect of Napoli or Atalanta running away in the Serie A title race.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of his team’s match against Parma this evening.
Inter have found themselves with a bit of catching up to do in the Serie A table.
The Nerazzurri are currently three points behind Atalanta, and four behind Napoli.
There is a big caveat there. Inter have a game in hand.
However, that is last weekend’s postponed clash away to Fiorentina. That is hardly a fixture in which Inter would be able to take any result for granted.
Therefore, the pressure is higher than ever for Inter to take three points if they are to successfully retain their Serie A title.
However, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is not too fazed by having to look up at Napoli and Atalanta in the table.
“They’re going at a fast pace, but so are Inter,” he said.
“They’re strong teams. But I’m not thinking about them.”
“There are other teams who are also having great runs in the league,” Inzaghi noted. “It’s still just the fifteenth matchday, there’s a long way to go for everyone.”
Meanwhile, Inzaghi also gave his thoughts on the shock health scare to midfielder Edoardo Bove during his team’s Serie A match against FIorentina last weekend.
“On Sunday evening at the Franchi, we all went through a terrible experience,” the Inter coach admitted.
“Now we know that Edoardo is doing better,” he continued.
Inzaghi said that “I gave my team the day off” to react after the shock of Bove’s health emergency.
“And now we’ve tried to prepare for this match at our best.”
And of his team’s improving defense, Inzaghi said that “Over the last period we’ve been doing well.”
“We’ve eliminated some errors,” the Inter coach said.
“This evening will be another good test,” Inzaghi said of facing Parma. “Against a team that are good on the counter.”
“We’ll need maximum focus,” he stressed.
