Simone Inzaghi has granted the Inter Milan squad four days off from training following yesterday’s 5-0 Serie A win over Frosinone.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInter1908. The outlet report that the players will begin training for next weekend’s Serie A match against Lazio on Wednesday evening.

There is no escaping the sense that Inter’s season is now winding down.

The Nerazzurri do still have a couple more matches left to go. But with the Serie A title having been in the bag for nearly a month now, there is not much left to fight for.

Inter can still look to write a place in the record books.

For example, the Nerazzurri can best their club record for most points in a single Serie A season – there is still the possibility of finishing with 98 points on the table.

And Inter could break the record for most clean sheets in a Serie A season.

Then there is of course always the matter of playing for pride.

But the fact remains that there is no more trophies left for Inter to play for.

Inzaghi Gives Inter Squad Four Days Off Following Frosinone Thrashing

Given the circumstances, yesterday’s match against Frosinone was about as positive of an outing as Inter could have hoped for.

The three points may not have made a difference for the title.

But five goals from five different scorers showed the continued hunger of the squad. And the fact that several players who do not start regularly shone, and got on the scoresheet was a positive sign for next season.

The five goals that Inter scored saw the team hit triple figures for the current season.

And another clean sheet took Inter one step closer to a place in the record books.

Next weekend, Inter will face a tougher opponent from the same region as Frosinone, Lazio – at least on paper.

Preparations for that match will begin in midweek. But in the meantime, the squad will get some well-deserved time to rest.
