Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has teased that he could decide to stay at Inter Milan past the end of his contract.

Commenting at the Nerazzurri’s Serie A title party at Castello Sforzesco, via FCInterNews, the veteran executive admitted that with all the recent success, it would be hard for him to just walk away.

As things stand, Marotta is under contract with Inter until the end of June 2027.

The veteran executive recently commented that his plan is to stay until the end of his deal, and then leave the club to pursue other endeavours.

Marotta has been in football for over forty years.

The veteran executive really rose to prominence during successful spells with Sampdoria and especially Juventus.

And it has been over the last few years at Inter that Marotta has truly confirmed his status as the top football executive in Italy.

Since taking over at Inter in 2018, Marotta has ended a dry spell at the club to bring seven trophies and counting.

And this is all the more remarkable considering the Nerazzurri’s well-known financial troubles.

Marotta has had strict financial constraints to operate within. But he has still built an incredibly strong team.

Inter will have to count on Marotta to keep the project ticking along as they transition to new owners in the form of Suning.

In this sense, there is little chance that the CEO will play a massively important role.

But then Marotta could be on his way. If the executive doesn’t sign a new contract, his time at Inter will come to an end after just under a decade.

As far as the prospect of retiring in 2027, Marotta noted that “I’ll be seventy then.”

“But if things keep up like this, it will be hard to walk away,” he admitted.

“We’re a beautiful family here. It will be hard not to continue.”

Meanwhile, of Inter’s ambitions for next season, Marotta said that “It will be difficult to keep this level up.”

“But we’re already thinking about new strategies. We’ll raise the bar, and we’re not afraid because we’re Inter.”
