Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez feels that the team winning is more important than him scoring after ending his goal drought against Cagliari.

Martinez spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 victory over Cagliari this evening. He downplayed the significance of his goal.

Inter got three big points in Serie A this evening away to Cagliari.

And Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez got on the scoresheet for the first time in almost two months in the league,

The Argentine had last scored in an Inter shirt against Venezia in November.

But Martinez finally broke his duck this evening. The 27-year-old latched onto a cross from his teammate Nicolo Barella to put away Inter’s second goal of the match.

But for his part, Martinez was not putting too much focus on his own individual moment of glory.

“Above all, I’m happy because we were up against a team in good form,” said the Inter captain.

“And for us this was an important battle,” he continued. “Before we go to Saudi Arabia for the Supercoppa.”

“It was important to take three points back to Milan,” the Nerazzurri captain emphasized.

“As I always say, the most important thing is that Inter win,” Martinez said.

“And then if I also score, all the better.”

Meanwhile, Martinez was not hiding his ambitions for 2025.

Of the hunt for trophies next year, the Inter captain said that “That’s what we play, we train for, we work hard for.”

“To bring trophies to Inter.”

“The most important thing is that whoever goes out on the pitch does what the coach asks,” Martinez stressed. “For the good of the team.”

“As [teammate Nicolo Barella] says, we’re an extraordinary group,” said Martinez.

“We all fight for our teammates. And that makes us united in the dressing room.”

Martinez added that “We have to continue in 2025 the way we’ve been going in 2024.”
