Inzaghi’s departure was always a realistic option.

However, everyone at the club had hoped he would stay immune to Al-Hilal’s blockbuster contract proposal.

Unfortunately, Simone Inzaghi didn’t share the same stance.

Instead, he informed the club of his desire to move to Saudi Arabia during yesterday’s meeting.

Only a few days after losing the Champions League final in epic fashion, Inzaghi decided to sever ties with the Nerazzurri.

Therefore, he will become the latest big name to ply their trade in the Saudi Pro League.

Meanwhile, Inter’s hunt for a new head coach is underway.

Lautaro Martinez, who captained Inter to the grandest European final, delivered his verdict on the current situation.

“These are personal decisions,” he said. “I had the chance to speak with him yesterday. It’s a decision he made together with the club.”

Then, he discussed Inter’s only trophyless season under Inzaghi.

Indeed, the Nerazzurri finished the 2024/25 campaign empty-handed despite being in the race for a treble until April.

“The season was positive because we fought until the end in all competitions,” he added.

“Unfortunately, we weren’t able to win any trophies, but overall the balance remains positive.”

Life goes on after Inzaghi’s exit, and Inter will compete at the FIFA World Cup under new management.

Interestingly, they’ll meet River Plate, one of the world’s biggest clubs and Lautaro’s familiar opposition.

“It’s important because we know each other. It’s also important for River and for the competition,” El Toro continued.

River Plate’s Franco Mastantuono is among the hottest prospects in world football.

Meanwhile, Kevin Lomonaco is another emerging talent. Both players have been on Lionel Scaloni’s list for June’s World Cup qualifiers.

“They’re emerging talents from our football. Very happy to have them with us because they’re doing an excellent job in Argentine football.”

Finally, he admitted he cannot wait to wear the Argentina shirt again.

“I always miss Argentina. I’m happy to be back.”
