The two Serie A giants have been hoping to demolish the current ground and build a modern stadium in its stead.

However, the authorities imposed a restriction, preventing the destruction of the stadium while citing its historic and cultural significance.

This prompted the two clubs to pursue separate paths, setting up projects on the outskirts of the city. Inter are looking to build their own stadium in the Rozzano region, while Milan have identified San Donato as their potential new home.

However, Milano Mayor Giuseppe Sala has been desperate to rescue the San Siro plans. He has come up with a new project to renovate the current ground, entrusting it to WeBuild.

The building company has recently presented its project for the two clubs who are now reflecting on the matter.
