Tottenham are navigating a hectic end to the January transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad while dealing with injuries and squad depth concerns.
The club remains in a battle with multiple teams over a prolific striker who has netted 36 goals and provided eight assists, making headlines in recent days.
In addition to their pursuit of attacking reinforcements, Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski recently addressed criticism from supporters following a heated chant directed at him.
Meanwhile, young prospect Yang Min-Hyeok is set to join QPR on loan, allowing him to gain first-team experience elsewhere.
With just days left in the transfer window, Spurs are weighing their options, and new developments have surfaced regarding a potential signing that could bolster their attack for the remainder of the season.
According to football insider Dean Jones, Tottenham have been presented with the opportunity to sign Lyon’s attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki.
The 21-year-old, whose contract with the French club runs for another 18 months, has been offered to multiple clubs, including Newcastle United.
Speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast (h/t TBR Football), Jones stated:
“I want to talk about Rayan Cherki at Lyon. This guy is being touted around everywhere.
“20 million pounds seems like a very, very low fee for a player who has been this creative this season.
“There’s been a lot of talk about his personality fit for a lot of teams, potentially whether he has the right attitude and application to make the step.”
Cherki has made 24 appearances this season, registering five goals and eight assists. While his versatility allows him to play across the attacking midfield, concerns remain over whether he fits Tottenham’s tactical setup. With the window closing, it remains to be seen if Spurs will make a move.
A move to Tottenham could be a brilliant step for Rayan Cherki, especially with Lyon’s financial struggles making a sale more likely.
Unlike previous seasons where he’s been a bit hit-and-miss, he’s been consistently impressive this term, showing real quality in every game.
Spurs could offer him the perfect platform to take his game to the next level, with the Premier League’s pace and physicality pushing him to improve.
At just 21, he’s got bags of potential, and under Ange Postecoglou, he could develop into a real star. It’s a move that makes plenty of sense for both parties.
