Bayern Munich have been forced to rethink their transfer plans in the aftermath of Jamal Musiala’s gutting injury setback.
The German starlet is now poised to miss the best part of next season after a collision with Gianluigi Donnarumma during Saturday’s Club World Cup quarter-final resulted in him suffering a broken leg and dislocated ankle.
Musiala, 22, has been one of the most exhilarating talents in world football since breaking into Bayern’s first team in 2020, so replacing him is nothing short of a mammoth task for the board.

As well as the youngster’s injury layoff, Bayern are also now navigating the recent departure of Leroy Sane to Galatasaray, meaning attacking reinforcements are vital before they kickstart their 2025/2026 campaign.
According to German football expert Christian Falk, the European giants have landed on one Manchester United target to add to Vincent Kompany’s ranks: Christopher Nkunku.
The out-of-favour Chelsea striker has struggled considerably to nail down a starting role or consistent goalscoring form in the English top flight, but does boast a hugely impressive Bundesliga record thanks to the four years he spent at RB Leipzig; in the 119 appearances he made for Die Roten Bullen, he recorded 47 goals and 43 assists.
In comparison, Nkunku, now valued at £35 million, has only managed to muster six goals and two assists in 38 Premier League matches since his £52m Stamford Bridge move in 2023.
United have been credited with concrete interest in Nkunku over the last year; initially, it was to strengthen the squad via a mid-season loan switch back in January, although nothing materialised.
The 27-year-old has remained an option on INEOS’ shortlist amidst their ongoing quest to sign a prolific goalscorer. However, if the decision is ultimately upto Nkunku, you’d expect he’d take the option of returning to a more familar environment in the Bundesliga and with a side that’ll allow him to ply his trade in the Champions League next season whilst competing for titles.
At the moment, United cannot promise such luxuries.
