An untimely injury

The defensive midfielder thus did not train with the team and is likely out for the men in white’s weekend game against Cadiz.

Prime facie, however, the injury is minor and should not impact his participation next week against Bayern Munich. Needless to say, this comes as a massive boost to Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

Rotations aplenty

While Tchouameni’s exclusion from Real Madrid’s starting XI against Cadiz may be relatively forced, there was a good chance the Frenchman would be rested anyhow.

After all, it is Ancelotti’s norm to give regulars a hiatus between the two legs of a decisive UCL tie.

As was the case when Real Madrid faced Mallorca before taking on Manchester City at Etihad, one can expect rotations for the weekend’s game against Cadiz.

Players like Joselu, Arda Guler, Lucas Vazquez and Brahim Diaz are all expected to get the nod to start on the night as the core players rejuvenate for the big European battle.
