There is a lot of pressure on FC Barcelona to perform at the highest level this season. Interestingly, however, the initial objectives and expectations from the club were completely different from what they are now. Still, since it is Barcelona after all, it does make sense.
Now competing for multiple titles across three major competitions, Barcelona cannot afford to slip up at any point. However, the current concern is that their schedule has now been set in a way that does nothing but harm the club’s interests.
With the upcoming game against CA Osasuna, one that was postponed previously, now having been set on a rather uncomfortable date, Barcelona will likely be without some of their key players. Moreover, beyond just the international break, they might have injury concerns as well, with the most recent being Pau Cubarsi.
However, according to SPORT, Barça centre-back Inigo Martinez is willing to push himself torecover as soon as possible. Having been sidelined previously, a development that kept him from joining the Spanish National team during this international break, he has since been working to recover from his problem.
Originally expected to be out for around two weeks or more, Martinez is instead looking to be back in time for this crucial game in La Liga. In fact, as one of Hansi Flick’s most trusted players this season, it makes sense as to why the Spaniard knows that his presence would be so crucial.
Hansi Flick himself is also reportedly keeping a close eye on the Spaniard’s progress, and hopes to have him back in time, With 2898 minutes played this season across 34 matches, it is clear to see that the 33-year-old centre-back is a key part of this Barcelona team’s system this season.
Thanks to his sensational form, the veteran defender has even earned himself a renewal with the club. That particular extension now sees him stay at Barcelona for another season behind this ongoing campaign.
