A headline figure in the sporting world has this weekend moved to add his name to the list of admirers of Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal.

As much, of course, comes as Lamine continues to build on his reputation as the game’s standout young talent.

After bursting onto the scene at club level on his way to 50 appearances for Barcelona at just 16 years of age this past season, the gifted attacker took things up a notch on the international stage this summer.

This came by way of a starring role in the XI of Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente, at Euro 2024.

On his way to starts in all but one of La Roja’s fixtures at the continental showpiece, Lamine absolutely dazzled, notching a goal and four assists, including one in the tournament finale, as Spain put England to the sword by two goals to one.

Such exploits on the part of a player of such tender years have gripped not only the football world, but sport as a whole, as leading figures from across the globe continue to pay tribute to a true superstar in the making.

And, as alluded to above, this weekend, yet another added his name to the list of Lamine’s admirers.

Drawn on the talents of the Blaugrana’s attacking prodigy during a public appearance, UFC icon Conor McGregor responded:

“The young boy, the 16-year-old, Lamine Yamal… I think he is in the hands of God.”
