Sunderland are in talks to sign Chelsea striker Marc Guiu on a season long loan according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.

Chelsea have been busy this summer revamping their attack with the signings of Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

The Blues are continuing to work on a deal for Xavi Simons, with negotiations said to be at an advanced stage, whilst a move for Jorrel Hato was agreed on Wednesday evening.

Sunderland in talks for Marc Guiu loan

With all the attacking signings inevitably players need to be moved on, whether permanently or on loan, and Guiu falls into that category.

Chelsea signed the teenager from Barcelona last summer after activating his €6m release clause, but he only made three Premier League appearances last season.

The 19-year-old has fallen down the pecking order, and his chances of getting regular minutes at Chelsea next season appear slim.

Chelsea are said to be open to loaning Guiu, and Sky Sports reporter Downie has provided an update on his future.

He took to X.com and said:

“EXCL: Sunderland are in talks with Chelsea to sign Marc Guiu.

“The 19-year-old striker is available on loan and #SAFC have made an approach to Chelsea.

“The ex-Barca youngster could be the striker Sunderland sign to add to their ranks ahead of the new season.”

Guiu reportedly turned down a loan to the Championship, and scored six goals last season, all in the Conference League.

Nicolas Jackson future in doubt

Guiu isn’t the only striker who could leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with there continued questions surrounding the future of Nicolas Jackson.

Jackson has seen his future come into doubt following the arrival of Delap and Pedro, but it’s believed he wants to stay and fight for his place.

Manchester United, Aston Villa and Newcastle are all said to be interested, with Chelsea thought to value the 24-year-old at £80-£100m, which is a major stumbling block.
