Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is expected to meet with Dermot Desmond and the club’s board to talk about his plans for next season and his own future…

The 52 year-old is approaching the last year of his contract at Celtic Park. Last month, amid speculation of a potential departure this summer, Rodgers reassured fans that he was ‘200 per cent’ certain that he would be manager of the Hoops for the 2025/26 season.

However, conversations regarding his future beyond that point are expected to occur soon: “I’m sure at some point, I’ll sit with Dermot and the board, and we’ll have a chat around the future,” Rodgers said speaking to Sky Sports.

‘We haven’t touched on that yet’

“But we haven’t touched on that yet. The focus has been purely on being successful this season. We’ll arrive into the summer with real positivity and a real positive energy. I think that’s what’s important.”

It is still unclear which areas Celtic plan to reinforce during this summer’s interesting transfer window.

Kieran Tierney is set to rejoin the club on a free transfer next month, but Rodgers has acknowledged the possibility of having to part ways with some of his best players.

Indeed, the Irishman has come to accept that retaining Celtic’s star players for long-term is a challenge: “Having now come through the first spell to the second spell, I now know 100 per cent, you’ll lose some of your best players,” he said.

“But they’ll always be replaced, like the manager can be replaced”

“But they’ll always be replaced, like the manager can be replaced. Celtic is in a great moment as a football club both on and off the pitch, and it’s my job to drive that forward.”

Clarity on the manager’s long-term future at the club would be helpful. With another massive summer ahead for incomings and outgoings, the lingering doubt that this may be Rodgers’ last season in charge of Celtic will draw unnecessary speculation and rumours that could prove a distraction to the team on the pitch.
