Gianluigi Donnarumma (26) will miss out on the UEFA Supercup clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur, aggravating a tense relationship between the Italian number 1 and the current UEFA Champions League holders. Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario, Italy’s backup stopper and Spurs’ first-choice keeper, expressed his support for his compatriot after the Parisian’s unexpected exclusion from the squad during a press conference transcribed by RMC Sport. “Yes, I’ve read he won’t be there. He’s my captain with Italy, and we have a great relationship,” said Vicario. “It’s up to him and his club to find the best solution for his future. I wish him the very best.”Gianluigi Donnarumma is now expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain after it was reported the Italian was left out of Les Parisiens’ squad to face Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Supercup. Fabrizio Romano reports that the shot-stopper’s camp feels it is an ‘unfair’ situation which has now ‘completely broken’ the relationship between the club and the player.
Romano reports also that the Premier League will be the most likely destination for Donnarumma, either this summer or on the expiration of his contract in June 2026. There have been previous reports from Marc Mechouna that Manchester United and Chelsea have enquired for the Italian international, when PSG went all-in on Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier (23) who signed a five-year deal with the capital club this week. RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins reported today that Manchester City have opened talks with PSG shot-stopper. The Champions League winners have reportedly promised Chevalier that he would be the undisputed starter between the sticks, as shown by Donnarumma’s omission from the squad that will face Tottenham Hotspur for this Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup showdown.GFFN | George Boxall
