On the 29th of February, it was confirmed that Paul Pogba (31) had been banned from football for four years after he was found guilty of doping. It is a decision from the Italian Anti-Doping Court (TNA) that Pogba has rejected and has launched an appeal against.

There had been unsubstantiated rumours brought about by an old video of the former World Cup winner resurfacing implying that he was thinking about retiring from the sport. However, as Pogba noted in an interview with Sky Sports, he had no intention of accepting the court’s verdict and has a desire to return to the field.

As Pogba stated, “I want to fight this, in my opinion, injustice… Pogba is not finished. Pogba is here and until you see me say I’m finished, don’t worry.” The midfielder continued, “I have an incredible desire to come back, I feel like a kid who wants to be a professional. I train, I do everything that I can to get back on the pitch.”

Pogba received a warm welcome from the French fans ahead of the Round of 16 game between France and Belgium. The midfielder was spotted singing and dancing with the fans as France plotted a route to the quarter-finals where they will take on Portugal.
