Jadon Sancho has spoken on his brilliant assist for Cole Palmer in Chelsea’s draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues dropped points for the fourth consecutive game after being held at Selhurst Park and it means it’s now just two points from the last 12 available and two goals scored in their last four matches.

Chelsea still sit fourth although the buffer they had built up is now gone with Newcastle just a point behind in fifth place as the race for the Champions League hots up.

Sancho on his assist

Maresca made a number of changes to the side which lost against Ipswich and Sancho was one of those restored to the starting line-up.

Sancho was a deadline day signing from Manchester United and the winger arrived on an initial loan deal which will become permanent in the summer.

The England international made a good start with three assists in his first three games, before not featuring for a month for various reasons after coming off at half time against Liverpool in October.

Sancho has been in good form recently and scored his first two goals for the club against Southampton and Tottenham.

Maresca has labelled the England international a special player, and Sancho showed why with a brilliant assist for Palmer against Palace.

Sancho, who now has the same amount of assists for Chelsea as he got for Manchester United, spoke about the decision to let the ball run through his legs.

“I came inside the pitch to receive the ball and I just let it run through my legs,” he told BBC Sport as cited on X.com.

“The defender was right behind me and hasn’t read the ball going behind him so I ran to reach it and found Cole in the middle. Then he does what he does.”

It was a great bit of skill from Sancho and a really well worked goal, it’s just unfortunate the Blues were unable to add a second.

Next up for Chelsea is the FA Cup third round tie against Morecambe with Sancho likely to be rested, before difficult games against Bournemouth, Wolves and Manchester City to round out January.
