Dennis, 27, last played for Forest in 2023, having spent the past couple of seasons out on loan with the likes of Istanbul Basaksehir, Watford and Blackburn Rovers.

Now, just over 24 hours until the transfer window slams shut, Forest have announced that Dennis has left the club following the mutual termination of his contract, meaning he is available to pick up on a free transfer.

Following his departure from Forest, Dennis is available on a free transfer, and numerous clubs around Europe and in the EFL will be monitoring his situation.

With Hull City having been placed under a transfer fee restriction until next summer, meaning they are only allowed to sign players on loan or on free transfers, Dennis could prove to be a masterstroke of a pickup for the Tigers if he can get back to his peak best form.

Hull have picked up four points from their opening four games, with victory over Oxford United, a draw to Coventry City and recent defeats at home to Blackburn Rovers and away to Bristol City making it an indifferent start to life on Humberside for new manager Sergej Jakirovic.

Oli McBurnie, Semi Ajayi and Akin Famewo have all joined on free transfers, whilst the likes of John Lundstram, Joel Ndala and Joe Gelhardt have all arrived on loan so far this summer.

With Liam Millar out injured until late September, Abu Kamara on the verge of departing the club and Mohamed Belloumi having only recently returned from a prolonged spell out injured, reinforcements in attacking areas could be something that the club targets between now and Monday's deadline.

Signing Dennis would be a real statement of intent by the Tigers and allow them to abide by their transfer restrictions, and it's unlikely that given he's been paid off, the African forward will command a huge wage.

Emmanuel Dennis would bring a wealth of experience to Hull City having played across Europe

Dennis, despite still being only 27, has already had a well-travelled career, playing in the likes of Ukraine, Belgium, Germany and Turkey as well as England.

The Nigerian's first taste of English football came in his first spell with Watford, where he netted 10 times and provided six assists in his maiden season in the Premier League, despite the Hornets succumbing to relegation.

This earned him a move back to the Premier League with Forest, who paid Watford £20 million for his services in August 2022.

Since then, Dennis has found his game time limited, making just 19 appearances for Forest in the Premier League before heading out on three separate loan spells, with the most recent being in the Championship with Blackburn.

He played just six times for Rovers after his January arrival, and now finds himself without a club for the first time since moving to Europe in 2016.

With nearly over 75 goal contributions in 250 career appearances, as well as eight caps for Nigeria, Dennis could prove to be a savvy pickup for any Championship club, and Hull should jump in first to secure his signature.

He could play off or alongside the target man presence of Oli McBurnie, and given he's versatile and can play out wide too, Dennis can provide depth in multiple areas of attack, making him a potentially ideal pickup for no transfer fee.
