Fofana and Deivid Washington were believed to be on the Tigers' radar, but they missed out on a move for them in the end.

Hull City held talks with Chelsea over a potential move for Deivid Washington.

This is according to Hull Live, who have confirmed that the Tigers weren't able to strike an agreement for the Blues' man in the end and as a result, the forward will not be making the move to the MKM Stadium.

Hull were also in talks for David Datro Fofana, but they were unable to secure an agreement for his signature in the end.

The summer transfer window was a very busy period for Tim Walter's side, with their two former star men Jacob Greaves and Jaden Philogene both sealing moves away from the club.

Greaves was a crucial figure in central defence and Philogene made a real difference in the final third during the 2023/24 campaign, but the latter's time at the club only lasted a season, with Aston Villa taking him back to the Midlands.

Some of the money generated from these two additions helped to fund some signings though, with several players making the move to East Yorkshire.

Several areas in their team were strengthened and they were able to get deals over the line for four players on deadline day, with Kasey Palmer, Mohamed Belloumi, Abu Kamara and Carl Rushworth all joining.

The former three should help the Tigers to be more of a threat in the final third, with Kamara proving to be a real asset at Portsmouth last season.

But Hull did miss out on signing a striker, with yesterday's deadline passing without Walter's side adding more quality in this area.

Mason Burstow and Chris Bedia may have arrived at the MKM Stadium this summer as striker additions, but the fact they were unable to recruit another forward was a blow, considering the number of players they have lost in this position in recent months.

Liam Delap and Noah Ohio saw their loan deals come to an end last summer - and both Aaron Connolly and Billy Sharp were released - even though Connolly scored at a fairly impressive rate last term.

With the club already missing out on Tom Cannon, Tommy Conway, Kieffer Moore, Jay Stansfield and Brandon Thomas-Asante, and having recently sold Oscar Estupinan, they were seemingly desperate to recruit a striker on deadline day.

They were reportedly close to striking a deal for Fofana, who spent time on loan at Burnley last term, but an agreement didn't come to fruition in the end.

"Tentative" talks were also held to recruit Washington, but he wasn't recruited either, with the Tigers missing out on a striker signing yesterday.

Hull only have the option of using the free agent market now.

They could potentially secure a return for Connolly, but that doesn't seem possible.

If they were going to re-sign the Irishman, they probably would have done it by now and they probably wouldn't have released him in the first place.

Freddie Ladapo is another potential option, but he didn't exactly impress last term.
