Plymouth and Hull have shown an interest in Bryan Reynolds in the past, with the right-back set to leave Westerlo this summer.
Westerlo’s Bryan Reynolds has told the club he wants to leave, with Hull City and Plymouth known to have been tracking the right-back in the past.
The 24-year-old, who started out with FC Dallas, has had an eventful career so far, with Italian giants Roma signing Reynolds in 2021 after an initial loan spell.
However, he struggled for game time in Rome, so a loan to Kortrijk was agreed before he joined Westerlo in 2022/23 on loan, with the move made permanent after a successful first season.
In total, Reynolds has now made over 100 appearances for the Belgian outfit, but it appears he could’ve played his last game for the club.
That’s after reporter Tom Bogert revealed that the defender has told the club that he wants to secure a transfer away before the deadline.
The update adds that discussions have taken place with potential buyers, although it’s not clear who those clubs are, with Hull and Plymouth having monitored Reynolds in the past, along with a host of clubs across Europe.
But, it’s said that ‘all parties’ are working to find a ‘solution’ which will seemingly spell the end of Reynolds’ time at Westerlo, with his contract at the club running until the summer of 2027.
It remains to be seen if any offers are on the table from English clubs, or if Hull and Plymouth reignite that apparent interest.
Realistically, Plymouth will struggle to attract a player like Reynolds to the club now they are in League One, as they had tried to sign him when they were in the Championship.
Tom Cleverley has endured a very tough start to life at Argyle, but fans will recognise that he hasn’t been given sufficient support from the board when it comes to strengthening the squad, so they will hope for a busy end to the window, and it’s clear many positions need to be addressed if the club are to be in the mix for promotion.
Argyle are, of course, some way out from promotion contention at this moment in time, having lost each of their opening four League One fixtures in what has been a disastrous and somewhat-unprecedented start to the season for the Green Army.
Meanwhile, it’s been a turbulent summer for Hull, and their transfer embargo means they have to be creative when it comes to signing players, as they can only bring in loans and free transfers.
