After losing second place on Good Friday following a disappointing home draw with Bristol Rovers, the Red Dragons regained the advantage three days later by beating Blackpool, whilst Wycombe Wanderers were humiliated by Charlton Athletic.

Now with two games left of the League One season, the Welsh outfit can make history on Saturday by becoming the first professional team in English football to secure three consecutive promotions.

They face a red-hot Charlton side at Stok Rae Cas at 5:30pm, whilst Wycombe head to another in-form side in Leyton Orient in the lunchtime kick-off. This means that Wrexham will know what they must do to wrap up promotion by the time they get the ball rolling on Saturday evening.

For the Hollywood side to secure automatic promotion to the Championship this Saturday, the following two things must happen.

Wycombe Wanderers fail to win at Leyton Orient

For Wrexham to earn promotion this Saturday, they will need to rely on Richie Wellens' men doing them a favour and denying Wycombe three points.

Before Easter Monday's thrashing, Wanderers hit form in recent weeks, closing the gap on the Red Dragons all the way from six points, to being one point ahead of them this time last week.

However, Monday's results saw the Chairboys drop outside the top-two again, whilst having their superior goal difference annihilated by Charlton.

This took Mike Dodds' side out of the driving seat, as they now sit two points behind their Welsh rivals. They head to Brisbane Road for the early kick-off knowing that three points are needed if they want to take the fight into the final day.

An excellent Orient side stands in their way though, who've hit another purple patch at just the right time in the season. With the O's in a fight for sixth place with Reading, Wycombe face a tough task to come away from the capital with maximum points.

If the Chairboys win, the automatic promotion fight will go to the final day, regardless of what Wrexham do. However, if they fail to get three points at Brisbane Road, the Red Dragons can wrap up promotion on the day.

The eyes of EFL supporters will be on North Wales come Saturday evening, as Wrexham host Charlton in what promises to be a blockbuster fixture at the Racecourse Ground.

The Addicks are currently in fourth place, with four points separating them and automatic promotion. This means anything other than a win would see them mathematically out of the race, confiding them to the play-offs.

Heading into the game, both teams will know the outcome of Wycombe's trip to Leyton Orient. If it ends in victory for the home team, then you can bet that both sides will have their tails up heading into the crucial clash.

For Phil Parkinson's men to secure promotion this Saturday, the Chairboys must drop points at Orient. If that happens, all Wrexham must do is defeat Charlton in the late kick-off to make history.

Whilst Wycombe dropping points against the O's could be a rather likely scenario based on Monday's result and their opponent's form, the Red Dragons know they'll be in for a tough evening against Nathan Jones' Charlton.

Both teams have something on the line, and will be keen to ensure three points. However, if Wrexham win, Charlton will have to go for promotion the hard way, regardless of Wycombe's result.
