Manchester City will look to move up to third place in the Premier League table as they host in-form Wolves tonight.
Pep Guardiola’s side head into a Friday evening fixture on home soil at the Etihad Stadium sitting fourth in a fierce battle for a top-five finish and Champions League qualification for next season, only a point above Chelsea and Nottingham Forest but just one behind Newcastle.
Indeed, a win over Wolves would take deposed champions Man City to within just three points of Arsenal in second ahead of their clash with Bournemouth.
Things have been going much better for City of late, with three consecutive wins in the top-flight and Nottingham Forest dispatched in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley last weekend to offer a real chance of major silverware at the end of this most trying of campaigns by their usual standards.
But they are likely to face a stern test against Wolves, whose easy 3-0 triumph over relegated Leicester last time out was their sixth successive league victory that long since ended any faint relegation worries and has moved them up to 13th under Vitor Pereira. It is the first time they have achieved that feat at the top level since 1970.
