An insight into the plans of the coaching staff at La Liga giants Real Madrid to make up for the absence of Kylian Mbappé in the club’s next outing has on Wednesday been provided.
This, of course, comes after frontman Mbappé was condemned to an incoming spell on the sidelines.
After complaining of a muscular concern in his left leg late in Real Madrid’s victory over Deportivo Alavés on Tuesday night, the France international was this morning put through a round of medical scans.
And the tests in question confirmed that the 25-year-old has picked up what is described as ‘an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg’.
Mbappé, as a result, is expected to be sidelined for a spell in the region of three weeks.
As much would mean the 25-year-old sitting out a trio of Real Madrid fixtures, the first of which comes this weekend, against none other than city rivals Atlético.
So, without their star summer addition, how do the Blancos coaching staff intend to make up for Mbappé’s absence?
An insight into as much has this evening been provided, by the reliable Mario Cortegana and Guillermo Rai, of The Athletic.
Starting with Sunday’s Madrid Derby, the pair point towards the most likely route coming in the form of a change in formation for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
The Spanish champions are expected to switch from a three-man midfield to four, with Luka Modrić stepping into the middle of the park.
As much would push Rodrygo and Vinícius Jr. into more position-less ‘free’ roles in attack, with Endrick, Arda Güler and the returning Eduardo Camavinga ready to make an impact from the bench.
