The Bantams' strong start to life back in League One continued on Tuesday night
Bradford City's impressive start to life back in League One continued on Tuesday night with a comeback victory against last term's play-off semi-finalists, Stockport County.
After regaining their third tier status for the first time since 2019 in May, the Bantams were handed plenty of tricky early assignments to navigate their way through in the new campaign's early weeks. Graham Alexander's men have come through their opening four games with an extremely respectable points tally, and have potentially laid down an early marker as to what could be achieved for the remainder of the season.
Unsurprisingly, there is a strong and continuously growing bond between supporters and players in this part of West Yorkshire as a result of said exploits, with one of their several experienced incomings this summer taking to social media post-match to give their verdict on yet another three-point haul.
Max Power is one of the most experienced players currently plying their trade in League One, having played over 300 games at the level and winning the division three times with Wigan Athletic.
Those qualities have immediately been showcased at Valley Parade, with the 32-year-old donning the armband for the season and, so far, playing every minute of City's league and EFL Cup outings since signing for the club.
After taking maximum points on home turf against fellow play-off semi-finalists Wycombe Wanderers and newly relegated Luton Town, Alexander's men recorded a first league success on their travels this term as Will Swann and former Stockport man, Antoni Sarcevic turned the game on its head in the second period to cancel out Owen Moxon's 16th-minute opener.
After he and his teammates sent out yet another early-season statement and celebrated with the 1,199 Bantams supporters at Edgeley Park, Power took to his X profile to issue his passionate reaction to the win.
"A great 3 points on the road. A real test for us last night. A difficult first half but we came through it," he stated.
"Thanks as always for the great support. Onto Saturday."
Power's verdict cannot be disputed either, as City registered just one shot in the opening 45 minutes, before coming into their own in the second period in an end-to-end half against a County side who had taken seven points from their prior three games against Bolton Wanderers, Wycombe and Leyton Orient.
It is often used as a cliché, but momentum is undoubtedly one of the most crucial elements in football, especially at the start of a new season.
Many tipped the Bantams to consolidate in League One after making an array of impressive signings, many of whom have vast experience playing at this level for sides who have previously challenged for the play-offs or, in Power's case, automatic promotion and beyond.
The West Yorkshire side are also one of the biggest clubs in the division with an extremely passionate fanbase, and when the two factors are combined, it only breeds further confidence in those on the pitch, and that has been evident in the opening four games, having accumulated 10 points from 12 whilst also knocking out Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Cup.
It remains to be seen whether such form can be sustained as the campaign goes on or whether Alexander will alter the club's internal targets as a result of this strong start, but many would also back them to continue in such fashion away to Peterborough United on Saturday, with Posh losing all four of their opening encounters.
