A couple of daunting away games are on the horizon for the league leaders, with Liverpool first taking on Aston Villa at Villa Park before they face Manchester City at the Etihad.

The Villans were held at home by Ipswich at the weekend, but they haven't been beaten on their own turf since Matchday 2. Man City are no longer a juggernaut force and have a Champions League tie in Madrid to mitigate before Liverpool's visit, but the Reds haven't won on City's patch in the Premier League since 2015.

Slot's side then enjoy a run of games at home, with Newcastle, who'll they'll face in the Carabao Cup final next month, visiting Merseyside on 26 February. The Magpies secured a late point in the reverse fixture.

Southampton rank among the worst-ever Premier League teams but produced one of their best performances of a torrid campaign against the league's best in November.

There's then a lengthy break between Premier League fixtures as a result of their trip to Wembley and the March internationals. Liverpool play host to what's bound to be a thrilling Merseyside Derby under the lights at the start of April.

Mikel Arteta may well have stumbled upon an unlikely striker solution in the midst of their injury criss up top, with Mikel Merino scoring a brace off the bench at Leicester.

The Gunners were woeful for much of Saturday's 2-0 victory, but their late surge has supplied hope that they'll at least survive until the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli return from their hamstring injuries.

However, tougher tests than Leicester lie ahead.

West Ham visit the Emirates next weekend before Arsenal travel to third-place Nottingham Forest. A trip to Manchester United follows that, with Arteta's side securing their first win in front of a crowd at Old Trafford since 2006 last season.

Arsenal, like Liverpool, have the Champions League round of 16 to consider in March, with home games against a slumping Chelsea and impressive Fulham rounding off their next five in the Premier League.
