How do Villa stop teen sensation Doué?

Aston Villa face PSG in the second-leg of their Champions League quarter-final tonight at Villa Park - and Unai Emery's men need to find a way to dull the threat of the French side's electric teenager Désiré Doué.

Still only 19, Doué scored a magnificent goal in PSG's 3-1 win over the Premier League side at the Parc des Princes last week and he has now scored in his last four games for the reigning French champions.

The £43m summer signing from Rennes is rapidly becoming one of the most talked about forwards in Europe and, despite restricted game time, he ranks eighth in Ligue 1 for dribbles, with 47, and 11th for key passes made (44) in Ligue 1 this season.

Doué appears to have a big game temperament and certainly isn't shy when it comes to firing his shots off - the teenager averaging over three shots per game for PSG in Ligue 1.

It will be interesting to see if PSG boss Luis Enrique opts to start Doué or use him as a game-changing sub this evening, but the recently-capped France international will no doubt feature at some point - and his stats this season suggest Villa should show him onto his left foot whenever possible.

What is immediately apparent when you look at Doue's eight goals for PSG this season, across Ligue 1 (5 goals) and the Champions League (3 goals) is that his entire haul has been scored with his right foot.

This is not surprising given that 60 of his 68 shots in all competitions for the Parisians have been with his right peg in 2024/25. The other eight have been with his left foot with Doué failing to muster a headed effort on goal all season so far.

Throw in his underwhelming shot-on-target percentage of 35% and, statistically at least, it appears that Doué is a work in progress, albeit an incredibly exciting one with 'elite' level physical and technical gifts!

What are the odds Doué now scores with his left foot tonight?
