We are out of the final international break of the year, and while temperatures are getting close to zero, our Red Bulls want to step up a degree or two at home to LASK this Saturday 23 November (kick-off at 17:00 CET).
Our last Bundesliga home clash against the side from Linz resulted in a big 7-1 win in May. We also won our first meeting of the season at the Raiffeisen Arena - although it was a closer affair and we only shaded it 1-0. LASK are yet to find their groove this season, even if they have been improving since Markus Schopp took charge at the start of September. They went into the international break in seventh - but on the back of an important win thanks to a goal from Maximilian Entrup that secured a last-minute success against Altach. The two points taken in the UEFA Conference League so far are not enough for them, however. One thing in our favour is that we are unbeaten at home in the league in this calendar year (11 wins and four draws) – a record we want to take over the final straight in 2024. Pepijn Lijnders doesn't have much time to get our side up to full speed, however, with our international Red Bulls only returning to Salzburg on this Wednesday and Thursday. We have to try to get things together quickly in order to land a success.

We are only getting eight of our players back from their national teams today. We are used to only having two days to prepare for a match - that is nothing new for us. We had a much larger group available to train though, and we worked well with them. We are really focusing on ourselves in preparing for Saturday, and not much on the opponents. We have a few things to improve, and we are working intensively on those - we want to see those on Saturday too.
Pepijn Lijnders
Matches against LASK are always going to be something special for me as I played there for so long and really found my feet as a professional. That plays no role ahead of the match though, as I am focusing first and foremost on what I have to do. We will do everything we need to get a win on Saturday. In our current situation it's a lot about getting passion onto the pitch, playing determinedly and getting the stadium and our fans on our side. We know, on the other hand, that LASK have lots of quality on the break. We need to make sure we have a solid enough defence staying back and that we can win the ball back up high as soon as possible. It will definitely be a difficult task but we are going to put everything we can into it.
