After winning the Copa del Rey in Seville on Saturday, FC Barcelona are set to return to Montjuic as they host Inter Milan for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final tie on Wednesday.
Although spirits are quite high at the Blaugrana club, following the cup win, there is no doubt that this match is going to be another challenge for Hansi Flick’s men.
Mainly because of their defensive solidity, Inter Milan can prove to be a tough nut to crack for the Catalans.
However, as Mundo Deportivo has noted, history is on their side, as Barcelona emerged victorious on five of the six occasions that the Nerazzurri visited their stadium for a UCL match. The remaining one match ended in a draw
This draw was the result that came from the very last meeting of these two sides on the Blaugrana home. This match was played in the group stage of the 2022-23 season, with Xavi Hernandez in charge of the Catalan side, and ended in a 3-3 draw, with goals from Ousmane Dembele and Robert Lewandowski.
Before that, the two sides played at the Camp Nou in the 2019-20 season, when a brace from Luis Suarez overturned the first goal scored for Inter by Lautaro Martinez. Another year before that, Barcelona had also beaten the Italians 2-0 at home, with goals from Rafinha and Jordi Alba.

These two sides met twice at the Camp Nou in the 2009-10 season. In the first of these games, which came in the group stage, the Catalans emerged victorious with a 2-0 scoreline. Then they again won in the second leg of the semi-finals, albeit only with a single goal from Gerard Piqué, which was not enough to overturn the 3-1 deficit from the first leg.
The earliest of the six games between these two sides played at the Camp Nou came in the group stage of the UCL 2002-03, with the Blaugranes emerging victorious with a 3-0 scoreline.
Thus, with history on their side, Hansi Flick’s side will be looking to get another victory over Inter Milan in their upcoming match.
