Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur won against Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday evening, and BBC Sport pundit Michael Brown was impressed with one particular Spurs player.
Tottenham have progressed to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup with a 4-3 victory over Premier League rivals United at home.
Dominic Solanke scored twice for Spurs, who also had Dejan Kulusevski on target in the quarter-final tie. The Sweden international forward found the back of the net in the opening minute of the second half with an emphatic finish.
Former Tottenham midfielder Brown was following the match, and the BBC Sport pundit noted how good Kulusevski was.
The pundit said that despite the changes made by Spurs head coach Postecoglou, the 24-year-old forward has done well for the North London club this campaign, just as he did against United.
Brown said on BBC Radio 5 Live in the 55th minute of the match: “Kulusevski was playing so well, then Postecoglou changed it and brought Maddison back in at the Etihad Stadium and put Kulusevski back on the right hand-side and he’s got even better. He’s playing so well.”
Kulusevski is one of the best players for Tottenham, and his performance against United proved that.
The Sweden international started on the right of an attacking midfield-three in a 4-2-3-1 formation against the Red Devils.
Kulusevski was a constant problem for the United defence until Ruben Amorim’s side started to pile the pressure on Spurs in the second half.
According to WhoScored, against United, Kulusevski took two shots, had a pass accuracy of 71.4%, and took 32 touches.
The winger also attempted four dribbles, made one interception and put in one cross.
The 24-year-old has done well overall this season. The forward has scored four goals and given three assists in 16 Premier League games and has scored one goal and provided one assist in six UEFA Europa League matches for Tottenham.
