Chelsea signed Cole Palmer a little over a year ago for £40m in what looks like one of the major transfer coups of this century.

You’d think that would indisputable at this point, but TalkSport have built their model on finding a dispute in everything, and this was no exception. They had Martin Keown and Simon Jordan on air this morning squabbling over the idea that Man City had made a mistake.

But before even that theoretical discussion, we had Keown calling Palmer the best player in the league, and Jordan responding that “he’s got a long way to go.”

Is there anything that Jordan won’t be a contrarian about? It made for an interesting chat, and Jordan defending the decision to sell Palmer was another fascinating piece of mental gymnastics.

Never change, TalkSport. Where would we be without you?
