Manchester United have reached an agreement with all concerned parties to complete the signing of Matheus Cunha, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.

Cunha has consistently been mentioned as Ruben Amorim’s top target to occupy the number 10 position. Scoring goals consistently has been a big problem for United all season and in addition to securing the services of a top-class striker, Amorim has also been keen on a creative midfielder.

Cunha is well-acquainted with the demands of the role, having been primarily deployed in that position by Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira throughout the current season.

It also works in Cunha and indeed United’s favour that Pereira employs the same formation as his fellow Portuguese compatriot, Amorim.

The Brazilian has notched an impressive 15 goals and six assists for Wolves in 33 Premier League appearances. It’s the most prolific campaign of his professional career.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United had agreed a five-year deal with Cunha.

It’s understood that the 25-year-old will wear the number 10 shirt, which is currently held by Marcus Rashford, although the Englishman is not thought to have a future at Old Trafford under Amorim.

It was stated that United will approach Wolves next week to agree on the payment structure of Cunha’s £62.5m release clause.

Now, the reliable Romano has given a huge update, indicating that the deal is done and Cunha will become the latest addition to Amorim’s ranks.

Romano even confirmed the transfer with his famous “here we go” catchphrase.

The Italian journalist wrote on X, “Matheus Cunha to Manchester United, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties involved.”

“Cunha will sign deal until June 2030 with option until 2031. Wolves to receive £62.5m clause value in installments.”

“Formal steps/contracts to be checked next week.”

It’s encouraging to see United wrapping up their business early, even if the Cunha deal has been in the works for several weeks. Hopefully, it sets the tone for the rest of the transfer window and signals a more proactive approach.
