Amine Harit (27) was one of Olympique de Marseille’s early performers during the first part of the season. The Moroccan international was in excellent form as he started in eight of the club’s first nine fixtures scoring twice and assisting three.
However, a turning point occurred in a fraught Le Classique on the 27th of October when Harit was sent off after 20 minutes. Since that match, Harit has not featured for the club in any competition (although a calf injury was responsible for his absence for most of November).
It has led to speculation that the midfielder could assess his options in the upcoming transfer window, with the club reportedly open to selling him if they receive the right fee. However, manager Roberto De Zerbi was keen to stress in an interview with 1899 Le Mag that Harit is still in his plans and that he wants to help him progress as a player.
De Zerbi stated, “The goal is to develop Mason Greenwood, Leonardo Balerdi, Luis Henrique or even Amine Harit who is older. Harit, who is 27, 28, 29 years old… I don’t know exactly [27]. He no longer has the right to have a season where he doesn’t score ten goals. I push him, I tell him that constantly. No one ever did that for me so I want to do it for my players.”
