“He has turned into a beast, a machine.

“He is someone you put on the pitch and you know what you are going to get.

“He has got those mental qualities.

“Joe deserves the credit, not us.

“It is the player who has to commit to what you ask him to do.

“I want more from him

“I think he can get more goals.

“Look at the goals he has scored this season.

“A player with real finishing abilities.

“Joelinton is like gold dust because wherever you put him you know he is going to do a good job.

“His attitude never changes in training.

“He’s playing in different positions so he has to do the training.

“I’m really pleased again with his performance.”

It is one of the massive ironies, that after having been turned into a top class midfielder by Eddie Howe, the one weakness Joelinton has, is not scoring enough goals. The Brazil international having been signed as a £40m buy, chosen by Mike Ashley, to play as an out and out centre-forward.

He has scored some cracking goals when playing in midfield, just think about that one last season against AC Milan in the Champions League.

He just doesn’t score enough of them, despite getting into great positions on a regular basis, that going for assists as well really.

Joelinton actually scored in Eddie Howe’s first ever Newcastle United Premier League match, the 3-3 with Brentford.

However, these next three years he has only scored another 13 Premier League goals, two in the League Cup, plus that one in the Champions League.

Joelinton has got it all and that includes his ability to score and create goals.

This season he scored that brilliant cool winner against Southampton on the opening day of the season, when United were down to 10 men, as well as that key goal at Forest yesterday.

Plus, what about that brilliant pass that made the winning goal against Tottenham? Every bit as good as Cole Palmer’s against NUFC. Joelinton didn’t get an official assist but it was his superb pass that put Murphy and Isak in behind the Spurs defence, Murphy squaring it for an Issak tap in.

If Joelinton could create and score like these above, on a consistent basis, he would really be the complete midfield player.
