Harry Kane has offered a reassuring assessment of Bayern Munich’s latest signing, Luis Diaz, suggesting the Colombian winger will not face any major issues adapting to life in Germany. Diaz arrived at the Bundesliga giants from Liverpool in a deal worth £65.5 million and has already begun training with his new teammates.
Kane, who left Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich in 2023, is well placed to speak on the challenges of such a transition. He believes Diaz is already well equipped to thrive in his new surroundings, particularly from a communication standpoint.
Speaking to Sky in Germany, Kane highlighted Diaz’s ability to communicate effectively in English, something he views as a crucial asset in the Bayern Munich dressing room.
“His English is okay, obviously there’s not many players in the team who talk Spanish,” Kane said.
“But honestly, his English isn’t too bad and he can communicate well with the team.
“Hopefully, his English and maybe his German picks up from some and some of the others players can talk to him.
“But with the coach [Vincent Kompany] talking English a lot of the time, I don’t think he has a problem.”

Diaz’s move to Bayern Munich is seen as a key piece in Kompany’s plans to re-shape the attacking line-up. Following an impressive spell at Liverpool, the 28-year-old is expected to play a pivotal role for the German champions, particularly after the departure of Kingsley Coman and uncertainty around Serge Gnabry’s long-term role.
With Kane leading the line, Diaz’s pace, dribbling and direct style are viewed as ideal complements. The two have already started building a rapport in training, with early signs pointing to a promising partnership.
Bayern Munich are looking to tain their Bundesliga title. Kompany has wasted little time in making his mark, with Diaz’s arrival part of a broader recruitment drive that includes younger talents and experienced operators.
For Diaz, this new chapter offers both opportunity and responsibility. As Kane noted, the support structure in place should give him every chance to succeed, both on and off the pitch.
Having conquered the Premier League with Liverpool, Diaz now has the platform to make a similar impact in Germany. And with Harry Kane backing his ability to settle, Bayern fans will be hopeful that the Colombian can hit the ground running.
